just as we all are gypsies of a sort in this life - in this world, so, too, we are in that other world - the dream world - the place where we are free to travel to places known or places unknown - free to travel far and wide - travel without fear - without trepidation - because just as we individually create our reality world, so do we each create our dream world -
Jung, on dreams, in his "ubergang":
a small hidden door to the most deep hidden and secret corners of the psyche, an entrance to the cosmic night, which was the psyche before there was any trace of an ‘ego’-consciousness:
and what will remain the psyche, no matter how far our ‘ego’-consciousness might stretch itself…
all consciousness acts to divide, but in our dreams we take the form of a more universal, true and eternal man who wanders through the darkness of the primal night.
There he is still the whole man, and this wholeness is in him, not distinguishable from nature and devoid of any ego-consciousness.
From this all unifying depth the dream arises; no matter how childish, grotesque or immoral the dream might be."

Has any poet strung together more beautiful words about dreams than Poe? I think not. Very nice, this darkness!
Nevine
I have 3 favorite poets and the top of my short list is Poe. He is one of the most imaginative, diverse talents ever. I think I need to pull out my collection of him tonight and relish in it. Thanks!
PS: I like how you play with the font, the boldness and lettering. Gives a more dramatic surreal effect coupled with the photo.
you're so right, nevine - no other has! none! yes, the darkness is beautiful!
oh, by all means, shepoet - the night is perfect for that here in delaware - well, actually, for poe, any night is perfect - but tonight, to me, especially, as it's been a poe day all day with dark overcast skies and dreary rain falling through cold air - yummmmm....perfectpoe!!!
thanks about the font thing - however, since i switched to the "new" format thing here in blogger, the sizes of the fonts is not as distinctive as the old format so i may switch back - but thanks - i like to be able to have a story within a story just by playing with the fonts themselves!
My kind of image this. Strange, silent and mystical.
oh, mine, too, trevor! mine too!
But the silence was unbroken, and the darkness gave no token,
And the only word there spoken was the whispered word, `Lenore!'
This I whispered, and an echo murmured back the word, `Lenore!'
Merely this and nothing more.
Oh, GYPSYWOMAN, thank you so much for the words and images. I just love it here in your world!
Much Love,
Deborah
is there anyone anything better than poe! well, very few! LOVE his work - and so glad you do, too! come on over here in this world anytime - it's your world, too!
